A Little Extra Care for a Lifetime of Love

Our pets grow older right before our eyes, one day they’re chasing toys, and the next, they’re moving a little slower. Senior pets have a special place in our hearts, and with a few simple steps, we can help them stay healthy, comfortable, and happy in their later years.

Health Checks Matter

As pets age, their risk for conditions like arthritis, kidney disease, and dental issues increases. That’s why we recommend senior wellness exams every 6 months. Routine bloodwork, urinalysis, and other screening tests help us catch early changes before they become major concerns.

Nutrition & Weight

Just like people, metabolism slows with age. Feeding a balanced senior diet and monitoring weight can help prevent strain on joints and organs. If you’ve noticed changes in appetite or thirst, let your veterinarian know as these can be early signs of illness. Your veterinarian can also advise which diet may be best for your senior pet

Comfort & Mobility

Older pets may need a little extra help getting around. Soft bedding, orthopedic beds, non-slip surfaces, and ramps or stairs to favorite spots can reduce pain and make everyday life easier. Gentle exercise keeps your pet’s muscles strong and supports mental health, too.

Showing Love Every Day

Your senior pet may not be as active, but they still crave connection. Take quiet moments together with short walks, brushing sessions, or simply sitting side-by-side can mean the world to them.

At Pet Wellness Clinics we’re here to help you make your pet’s golden years as bright and healthy as possible. If you have questions about your senior pet’s care, give us a call at (317) 516-5921 or schedule an appointment online.
