Free Scans for Dogs

Did you know that half of dogs over 10 develop cancer, and about a third of these cases affect the skin? The good news is that catching it early dramatically improves outcomes. With a quick scan using HT Vista, we can identify if any issues and help you protect your furry friends before problems have a chance to grow.

If you notice a lump on your dog, join us for a free scan during our Open House. Space is limited!

How HT Vista Works to Scan Your Dog's Lump

HT Vista is safe, non-invasive, and well-tolerated by dogs. There are no needles or sedation, results are fast, and the test provides highly accurate, cost-effective insights.

HT Vista uses heat diffusion imaging (HDI) and AI to assess the cancer risk of a skin mass. The scan takes only 40 seconds per mass, and results are ready in just minutes.

What to expect during the scan:

  1. A small patch of fur will be clipped so the device can scan properly.
  2. The device will gently heat the lump by about 6°C (42°F) and is left to cool.
  3. During the scan, the device will monitor the thermal activity and special features of the tissue.
  4. The data is then sent and analyzed by the AI to determine whether the mass is likely to be cancerous. Results are returned in two minutes!
  5. A team member will discuss the lump’s risk value and category. In most cases (60%), a scan is all that is needed. If your pet’s risk value is moderate or high, we may recommend a sample for lab analysis to confirm the findings.

Can’t join us for a free scan? Schedule an appointment at our Broad Ripple location by calling (317) 516-5921. *Standard rates apply outside of the October 18 event.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the appointment work?
Call (317) 516-5921 and request an appointment for a lump or mass scan with our HT Vista at our Broad Ripple location. During your visit, we will perform a full body physical exam and discuss the location of the lumps you are concerned about. A small patch of fur from the skin must be clipped so that the device can scan properly! After the scan, we will share the lump’s score.
  • If a lump receives a high score, we will discuss the next steps.
  • If the mass scores low, then we recommend monitoring for any changes.
Will the device hurt my dog or affect the lump if it is cancer?
No, the device is non-invasive and heats the skin by 6°C (42°F) with an LED light, which is safe for everyone involved.
What if the mass scores low?
This means that the masses cancer risk is below 10%. We recommend the mass be monitored and rescanned if there are any changes in mass size or texture.
What if a mass scores moderate?
When we read a report for a suspicious mass we recommend concurrent testing either by aspirate or removal with testing to gain additional information. Early detection and action offers a better prognosis.
What if a mass scores high?
This means that the masses cancer risk is above 50% and further investigation is required, as there is a high chance of malignancy.
During a scan, one mass received a diagnosis, and another mass did not, why is this?
Each mass is screened using the HT Vista screening algorithm, and if a mass meets the specificity requirements, it will also receive a diagnosis. In this case, where two masses were scanned, only one of the two masses met the specificity requirements and, therefore, received a diagnosis.
My dog has a lump on his eye. Can we scan it?
Lumps cannot be scanned on the eye. The light is too close to the eye and may damage the eye.
My dog has a lump on his foot pad. Can we scan it?
We can only scan healthy tissue, so the footpad cannot be scanned.
My dog has a lump on his testicle. Can we scan it?
We cannot scan testicles, mammary tissue, or lymph nodes as they are different type of tissues and present differently to dermal masses.
My dog’s lump is ulcerated, can it be scanned?
No, a mass that is ulcerated or has a lot of associated inflammation should not be scanned as it will throw off the algorithm and results will be inconclusive.
Does the size of the mass matter?
The mass needs to be a minimum of 0.5 cm in size.
Is there a minimum age for a scan?
Regardless of age, we recommend your dog or puppy be scanned if there is a persistent lump or bump.
