Our October Vet of the Month is Dr. Rachel Lether, a two-time NCAA national champion who brings a true team mindset to every exam room. Whether your dog is your weekend hiking buddy or your cat rules the living room, Dr. Lether sees you, your pet, and our staff as partners. The goal is always the same: a long, happy, healthy life together.
Dr. Lether's love of animals started early. Some of her favorite childhood memories are birthdays spent at the zoo and a home full of pets: dogs, turtles, and even hedgehogs.
In college, that love grew into a passion for animal health and wildlife conservation. She wanted a career where she could care for animals and make a real difference in their lives, and that led her to veterinary medicine.
That childhood curiosity still drives her every day.
With a team sports background, Dr. Lether thinks of every visit as a team effort. She sees herself, the pet, and the family as one team, and everyone brings something important to the table.
"For me, it all comes down to teamwork! I love working toward a shared goal of keeping an important member of the family happy and healthy."
That teamwork looks a little different for every family. For busy households juggling work, school, and weekend adventures, it means clear plans and practical next steps. For pet parents who want the most thorough care available, it means expert guidance and open conversation about every option.
Ask Dr. Lether about her favorite part of PWC, and she'll point to her coworkers, who make her smile every day and support each other when things get tough. Her team feels the same way about her:
"Dr. Lether is the teammate everyone wants in their corner. She's calm when the day gets busy, she always makes time to explain things to families, and she treats every pet like they're her own. Our clients notice it, and so do we."
Before veterinary school, Dr. Lether rowed for the UC Berkeley Women's Rowing team and won two NCAA Division I National Championships. That discipline and competitive drive show up in how she cares for patients today.
Outside the clinic, she and her husband love staying active and finding new adventures. You might catch them running with their dog, Bodhi, planning a trip abroad, or cheering loudly for the Seattle Seahawks.
From zoo birthdays to two NCAA national championships, Dr. Lether has always brought heart and hustle to everything she does. Her work at PWC is no exception. She partners with families to build care plans that fit real life, takes time to explain every option, and keeps a calm, steady presence on even the busiest days. Her coworkers count on her, and our clients feel the difference.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Lether and thanking her for everything she brings to our patients and our team!
