Meet Dr. Lauren Muskat, our August Veterinarian of the Month. A lifelong animal lover, she combines clinical skill with genuine warmth and a special gift for the cases that call for extra patience and creativity, and our whole team is delighted to celebrate her.
For Dr. Muskat, veterinary medicine was never a maybe. "I was one of those people who knew they wanted to be a veterinarian from a very young age," she says. She spent her early years around horse barns, vet clinics, rescue groups, and the zoo, and that time with all different types of animals helped her decide, with certainty, that this was the direction to take her life.
Behavior cases are the ones Dr. Muskat looks forward to most, and it is work she understands from both sides of the exam room as the owner of a squirrelly dog herself.
"I look forward to seeing behavior cases the most, helping come up with a treatment plan that works for the patient and for the owner is very rewarding! As an owner of a very squirrelly dog, I know how difficult these cases can be to live with. Good anxiety management and behavior modification has had a profound impact on my household and I really enjoy figuring out a plan for each behavior case I see."
Outside of work, Dr. Muskat is happiest crafting. She rotates between crochet, cross-stitch, and embroidery depending on the day, and knitting is next on her list to learn. It is the same patient, one-step-at-a-time approach she is known for in the clinic.
The thoughtful, compassionate care Dr. Muskat brings to her patients and their families makes a real difference every day, and Pet Wellness Clinics is grateful to have her on the team. Congratulations to Dr. Muskat on being our Veterinarian of the Month. It is well deserved.
