Dr. Dinaz Lahewala, Medical Director at Pet Wellness Clinics, is our July Veterinarian of the Month. She brings nearly a decade of clinical experience along with a steady focus on client education, cytology, clinical pathology, and preventative care. A Purdue-trained veterinarian with a scientist's eye and a genuine love of animals, she brings precision and genuine warmth to every visit, paired with a deep appreciation for the bond between pets and the people who love them, and for the team she works alongside every day.
Dr. Lahewala grew up in northern California and completed her undergraduate studies in systems physiology at San José State University before earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. She went on to practice small animal medicine in southern Indianapolis for three years before joining the Pet Wellness Clinics team.
When asked what drew her to veterinary medicine, Dr. Lahewala points to a lifelong love of animals paired with an interest in science:
"I have always loved animals as a kid (classic), but also knew I had a passion for biology, and physiology. Veterinary medicine fit me perfectly where I could pursue my passion, but also not work a typical desk job and do something different every day."
Dr. Lahewala says the connections she builds with pets and their families are among the most rewarding parts of her job:
"I love the connections and stories everyone has about their pets, the 12 different nicknames they have, and what weird, quirky behaviors they have too. The more harmless mischief the better!"
Asked about her favorite part of working at Pet Wellness Clinics, Dr. Lahewala keeps her answer simple and direct: working with the people she works with. For anyone considering a career at Pet Wellness Clinics, her team-first mindset reflects exactly the kind of collaborative culture we're proud to offer.
Dr. Lahewala is an avid shrimp and freshwater snail enthusiast.
Dr. Lahewala lives in Brownsburg with her husband, Andrew, their dog, Bort, and their cat, Tyranocore. She enjoys tending to her indoor houseplants, rooting for the Oakland Raiders, and woodworking.
Dr. Lahewala's dedication, curiosity, and genuine care for every patient and family truly set her apart. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Dinaz Lahewala on being our July Veterinarian of the Month.
