At Pet Wellness Clinics, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on the incredible individuals who make a difference in the lives of pets and their people every day. This month, we’re thrilled to recognize Dr. Barringer as our Veterinarian of the Month—a compassionate, dedicated doctor with a deep-rooted passion for animal care and a surprisingly impressive talent for pogo sticks.
Dr. Barringer’s journey into veterinary medicine started in small-town South Dakota in the early ’90s. At that time, veterinary care was mostly focused on livestock, and questions about pet health were often left unanswered. That early gap in care sparked a curiosity in young Dr. Barringer, and ultimately, a lifelong calling.
“Once I found out that veterinarians could treat all different species of animals, I knew this was the path I wanted to follow.”
For Dr. Barringer, veterinary medicine is more than a career, it’s a way to connect with people from all walks of life through their love of animals. Whether celebrating a new puppy or supporting families during difficult times, she sees every appointment as a chance to make a meaningful impact.
“People come from every corner and walk of life, and one thing that connects us is our fondness of and relationship with animals. Caring for animals has been a way I can support families throughout some of the happiest and hardest times of their journey.”
At Pet Wellness Clinics, Dr. Barringer continues to grow as a well-rounded veterinarian, thanks to an environment that encourages professional development while prioritizing a healthy work-life balance. That balance, she says, is key to staying energized and engaged.
“PWC gives me continuous opportunities to become a well-rounded and motivated veterinarian while also valuing the balance of work life with my family life. This balance keeps me excited about medicine and each shift, I feel like I will make a difference for someone because of the work I get to do.”
Outside the clinic, Dr. Barringer has a hidden talent that might just surprise you: she’s really good on a pogo stick. We think that kind of balance, agility, and determination reflects the very same qualities she brings to her patients every day.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Barringer on being our Veterinarian of the Month! We’re lucky to have her on our team, and so are the pets (and pogo sticks) of the world.
