Big trips are better with your pet by your side! Whether you’re traveling for fun or making a move, a little advance planning goes a long way toward keeping your pet safe and comfortable. Here are a few simple tips to start your journey off right: 

Keep your pet secure.

Use a carrier, crate, or pet seat belt to keep your pet safe and comfortable during car travel. Make sure your pet’s microchip information is updated, and that you have their information handy just in case. 

Bring the essentials.

Pack food, water, medications, and familiar items like a blanket or toy to help reduce stress. 

Plan for safety and comfort. 

Schedule regular breaks, avoid feeding right before long drives, and never leave pets unattended in a vehicle. 

Do You Need a Health Certificate? 

If you’re traveling by plane or crossing state lines, your pet may need a Pet Health Certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian. This document confirms your pet is healthy and current on vaccinations.
